These 10 Cars Deserve Higher Sales – But Here’s Why They’re Struggling

1. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
  • Spacious headroom, high ground clearance, and feature-rich top variants make it a better choice than the Alto for a slight premium.
  • Expected to get six airbags soon.
  • Just 1,700 units per month—way too low for its value!
2. Maruti Suzuki Ignis
  • At ₹5.85 lakh, you get a 4-cylinder peppy & refined engine, excellent visibility, and city-friendly dynamics.
  • Gives off VW Up vibes—quirky yet practical.
  • Only 2,300 units per month, despite its solid urban appeal.
3. Hyundai Alcazar
  • A smart 5+2-seater crossover with turbo petrol & diesel options.
  • Essentially an extended Creta with top-notch interiors and comfort focus.
  • Just 1,200 units per month—underrated for what it offers!
4. Hyundai Tucson
  • A near-perfect D-segment SUV with petrol/diesel options, global quality, premium comfort, and Hyundai’s reliability.
  • Imported as CKD (Completely Knocked Down), making it better built than many locally manufactured cars.
  • Only 100 units per month—shows India's weak demand for premium global SUVs.
5. Honda City
  • Loved by owners for unmatched reliability, comfort, and premium appeal.
  • Base AT variant under ₹16 lakh OTR, comes with ADAS and a naturally aspirated engine that rivals turbocharged units.
  • Available in hybrid as well!
  • Just 700 units per month—sedans are getting overshadowed by crossovers, but this one deserves better!
6. Honda Elevate
  • Same mechanical brilliance as the City, minus the hybrid option.
  • 1500cc NA engine competes well with the Creta, Seltos & Grand Vitara.
  • Selling 1,200 units per month, but should be doing at least 3,000+ given its capabilities.
7. Volkswagen Taigun
  • A must-test-drive SUV—once you experience it, you’ll wonder why it doesn’t sell more!
  • Solid build, refined performance, top-notch quality and a 1.5 Turbo DSG AT variant available with discounts.
  • Delivers 18+ kmpl on highways, and even the base variant gets solid safety & features.
  • Just 1,200 units per month, but deserves 3,000+.
8. Kia Carens
  • Six airbags as standard, turbo petrol & diesel options, premium interior quality, and best-in-class third-row space.
  • If you’re not in the taxi business, this is a better family MPV than the Ertiga.
  • Selling 5,000 units per month, but should be at 8,000+.
9. MG ZS EV
  • Proven & reliable EV with no major issues, 350 km real-world range, and sorted driving dynamics.
  • Compared to some less proven EVs above ₹17 lakh, this is a safer bet.
  • Just 500 units per month, but it deserves much more!
10. Jeep Compass
  • 2.0L diesel with a rugged, solid build—ideal for those with 2,000+ km monthly running.
  • Premium interior quality, abuse-worthy durability, and strong road presence.
  • Only 200 units per month—shocking for such a capable SUV!
