Built for 50–70 km daily city commutes. If you charge at home every night and your world is within a 90 km radius, the 24 kWh battery covers 160–200 km in real use — not ARAI fiction. Best 90:10 car in this segment right now.
Go 24 kWh — it carries a 15-year battery warranty. In a market where EV residuals are uncertain, that long-term assurance changes the ownership math. The smaller pack is the smarter pick here.
Better than petrol or CNG in 2026 — no contest. No ethanol-blend roadmap exists, ICE running costs are only climbing. The Tiago EV already drives 5× better than a naturally aspirated engine and makes AMT look like a relic.
S Mode is genuinely quick. 0–100 kmph in under 11 seconds — 5 seconds faster than every naturally aspirated hatchback in this bracket. D Mode keeps it linear and range-friendly. Use both as the road demands.
Top variant is a complete package for the segment. 10-inch screen, rear AC vents, 360° camera with blind-spot view, cruise control, 65W Type-C, rain-sensing wipers, 6 airbags as standard. For a sub-₹10L EV, that's not a trim list — it's a statement.
Handling and interior have matured. The cabin weakness we flagged in 2025 is sorted. Ride is slightly firmer than ICE equivalents but composed, not nervous. Strict four-seater with mature road manners and full control.
No spare wheel. On Indian roads, a puncture kit is not an alternative. This should have been standard from day one.
Strictly a city car — and a self-imposed ceiling. Tata had the opportunity to bring a prismatic 30 kWh pack and future-proof this for 8–10 years. They didn't. It starts losing juice above 100 kmph and tops out at 120 kmph. Plan highway trips carefully.
Punch EV 40 Smart Plus is a stronger all-round EV. At roughly ₹90,000 more, the Punch delivers a meaningfully better package. If the budget allows, stretch for it. The Tiago is for buyers where that gap is a hard constraint.
Volklub Verdict
Best city EV under ₹10L in 2026 — if you know its limits.
The Tiago EV is not trying to be an all-purpose car. Within its brief — home charging, 90 km daily radius, city performance — it over-delivers. ICE buyers switching to their first EV will be surprised by how good this drives. Go 24 kWh, take the 15-year warranty, and stop overthinking it. Just don't plan a highway holiday without mapping your chargers first.
