Main requirement for me is have a automatic car with good safety ratings.
Automatic for my wife to drive in City traffic and safety rating because of nonsense drivers around. Wanted an SUV for road conditions in Hyderabad. And want to get everything under 10 Lakhs on road. Shortlisted Exter and Punch. Exter released just around that time. Not enough reviews and No safety ratings of Hyundai, went for Punch Top end variant.
Coming to ownership experience, we both have different opinions. Wife's Experience: She occasionally drives to office by car which is around 25kms. So for her drive was good enough, Handling of car and suspension are excellent. Highway mileage for her is giving around 19kmpl. Only concern for her is sometimes car infotainment system wont work. It has to be reset and car has to be turned off and turned on again for it to work. Its the most annoying thing of all.
My experience: Car is really underpowered for me and gearshifts are not smooth (Of course it is an AMT, cant expect much from it. As there is no CVT/TC/DCT in my budget). Doesn't give you confidence to overtake on Highways and same infotainment issue for me. I am getting 20 to 22 kmpl in Highway and 12 to 15 in city. Mileage was it was excellent, Handling wise excellent and suspension is good too. Fit and finish could have been better and panel gaps are visible in many places.
Service experience: In my city I have very good service experience with Tata service centers. Reception is good. Service personnel are knowledgeable.
Overall I recommend this if people are on tight budget go for it. Else go for nexon DCT and okay with Hatchback then Altroz DCT.
