Unprecedented Electric Vehicle Journey
Chris and Julie Ramsey's 10-month, 30,000 km adventure from the frozen Arctic Sea at the 1823 Magnetic North Pole to the South Pole marks the first-ever completion of such a journey by any car, particularly an EV.
Rigorous Tests in Diverse Terrains
The all-electric expedition vehicle, a Nissan Ariya with e-4ORCE all-wheel control, underwent challenging off-road terrains, extreme temperatures, and high altitudes across North, Central, and South America, as well as Antarctica. The vehicle, unmodified in its powertrain or battery, was adapted by Arctic Trucks with 39-inch BF Goodrich tires.
Planning the Ultimate EV Adventure
Chris and Julie, inspired by their experience using an EV in the Mongol Rally in their Nissan LEAF, embarked on the Pole to Pole journey in 2017. Their goal was not only to demonstrate the capabilities of electric vehicles but also to create interest and a lasting legacy of charging infrastructure. Collaboration and innovation with like-minded partners played a crucial role in making Pole to Pole a reality.
