Overall Ownership Experience
  • It was my family’s first car, so I decided to go with Maruti to get to know the machine better.
  • Overall, I love the car.
  • I understand the safety concerns, but I spent 6.5 lakh back then, which gave me:
  • very handy features
  • good looks
  • a reliable engine
  • Ride quality is good on highways.
  • I like to cruise around 100–110 km/h (though I do not recommend new drivers to go above 80).
Service & Maintenance Experience
  • Service centre in my hometown was good as there was a personal connection.
  • Here in Gurgaon, they treat us like cash cows.
  • The Baleno had a steering recall, but my Gurgaon service centre never informed me.
  • My steering started becoming very stiff, so I contacted my hometown service centre — they were kind enough to get 90% cost discount on the part from Maruti, even though the recall period was already over.
  • Prem Motors in Gurgaon are simply there for money — they do not care about cars.
Things You Like & Dislike
Things I Like
  • Music system
  • AC
  • Engine response
  • Seats are very comfortable
  • Rear seat and boot space is great
  • Availability of parts is excellent, and anyone can service the car
  • I stopped going to the service centre 2 years back and found a trustable mechanic — no issues with servicing outside.
Things I Don’t Like
  • Rattling
  • Stiff suspension (I don’t mind it, but family prefers more comfort)
  • Build quality
