Overall Ownership Experience

It’s been three years since I bought my Kia Seltos 1.5L Petrol IVT HTX.

Mine was one of the first models with the new Kia logo, and it still looks modern and sharp today.

If I had to sum it up:

"A reliable and comfortable city car that gets you from point A to point B without a fuss."
Service & Maintenance Experience
  • Routine service is on schedule — no major complaints.
  • The dealership calls, picks up the car, and drops it back after service.
  • Service cost: ₹8,000 – ₹13,000 depending on the visit
  • Haven’t done major service yet, so can’t comment on long-term costs.
Things You Like & Dislike
What I Like
  • Steering feedback is surprisingly good — light and direct, especially in the city.
  • So light, I can steer with one finger (though I don’t recommend doing that).
  • Seats are well-padded, and the beige interior has aged well.
  • Infotainment & camera system: The feed is crisp, and dynamic guidelines help a lot in tight spots.
  • Creature comforts: Korean cars spoil you — the feature list is impressive even today.
What I Don’t Like
  • Suspension: Harsh and unrefined — you feel every bump and pothole.
  • Highway confidence: I hit 150 km/h once but felt nervous and slowed to 110–120.
  • Safety: Only 2 airbags in the HTX variant makes me uneasy.
  • My biggest regret is not waiting for the German rivals.
  • But now, selling doesn’t make financial sense.
  • Mileage: Poor — not for the fuel-conscious.
  • Build quality:
  • Creaks in the doors
  • Paint yellowing, even when parked in shade
Final Verdict

The Kia Seltos HTX IVT is a great city car for families who prioritize comfort and features over performance and safety.

Pros:
  • Rich features
  • Refined engine
  • Smooth CVT
  • Stylish design
  • Light steering
Cons:
  • Lacks critical safety (only 2 airbags)
  • Suspension too firm
  • Paint and interior quality concerns
  • Poor fuel efficiency
  • Underwhelming highway confidence
