According to reports, BEVs (battery electric cars) accounted for 72% of total sales in Q4 2022, with PHEVs (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) accounting for the remainder. The Tesla Model 3 became the world's best-selling EV, followed by China's BYD Song model.
Largest EV Markets
China, Germany, and the United States have become the world's largest EV marketplaces, with the top ten EV automotive groups, who hold more than 39 passenger car brands, accounting for 72% of global EV sales in Q4 2022.

Chinese EV car manufacturers are reportedly growing their foothold in other worldwide markets such as Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. This should help boost EV sales even more in 2023, with predictions estimating 17 million EV sales by the end of this year.
