Overall Ratings
I owned Dzire 4.2metre long 2009 model earlier. Started my research with my defined set of parameters without any brand love or sedan vs suv vs cross over. I wanted to buy any car whatever which could fill my basket to max on my defined requirements. Initially kept budget under 10L.
Space in every part of car is highest priority and on top is boot space due to frequent visits to and fro to family with huge luggage both ways , can't compromise on cabin space and boot space. Thanks to YouTubers, I was fascinated by nexon, but I didn't loose my senses and focus on my requirements and basic parameters, so due to less boot and low trust on Tata cars endurance on comfort, I dropped nexon.
Creta, Seltos didn't offer any VFM variant under 11-13L and competitively not that level of space as well, in fact None of their cars offer VFM variant and I didn't trust their quality and looks either. Honda city 4g required 6 months service schedule - didn't like that also, finalised Vento and kept and tried to fully convince myself, wife and important family consultants as it was an outdated on every front So I was still not fully convinced.
I wasn't able to finalise anything until I saw Honda City 5G, though it was over budget but the base VMT won me all over. I didn't think twice, did my research on city more n more, international moose tests, reviews, comparisons. Took multiple test drives myself. Then finally, I was convinced that such a reliable, respected car matched my whole personality. I wanted a car to stay updated and relevant for longer time, this ticked all checks for me on my priority of
1. Mechanical engineering, Comfort and Safety features
2. Car Tech features to stay relevant for future
3. Any other good to have - mostly gimmicks in order of priority.
This car had it all - huge boot and best comfort for family, it has got 4 airbags, TPMS, ABS, EBD, TCS, HA, BA, ESP/agile handling, auto AC, advanced rear view camera with 3 views (extremely helpful, though with avg quality like most cars), electric orvm adjust n foldable, auto headlights off or follow me home, auto door lock after some seconds, both front doors request sensors, smart boot which doesn't lock if key is inside, alloy wheels, fog lamps, rear defogger, 5* safety rating 2.) Connected Car tech - have all tech IoT features with trip, score and warnings and learning etc. hugely advanced and futuristic 3.) Alexa connected features and other.
2 free services completed and no issues so far, very happy with this car, drove in Himachal my hometown to delhi multiple times, local roads and no issues rather it offer that comfort which is required, extremely high cornering stability on those wide and curvy roads, I got mileage of 23.6 KMPL on first 375km from Himachal to delhi and then due to roads totally blocked for next 50km got Overall avg of 21kmpl on total journey of 483km.
It gave me this mileage twice on my both journeys. Journey updates and screenshots all posted in Honda City group on FB. This car is real charm, a dream car. Very very stable, comfortable for parents, kids, wife and the driver as well - this car variant VMT and VX variant are still matchless compared to any car in budget of 11-14lacs. I regret today if I have to buy any car today I would choose City 5G VX instead of VMT.
No hard feelings to anyone but still No car in market (Seltos, Creta, Slavia, Verna or Ciaz) except MG Astor's lower variants but they are discounted now; None is more VFM than City 5G VMT base variant. They all offer low budget empty boxes whose looks don't even attract from inside or outside in lower variants and higher variant still don't offer everything what city VMT offers.
